Varna is the third biggest city in Bulgaria and the biggest on the Bulgarian seaside, taking up an area of 205 sq.km. The location of the city on the Northern Black sea coast, as well as the rich natural resources, turn it into one of the most famous resort centers in Europe and the biggest one in the Black sea region. Simultaneously, it is a crossing point on the way between the Middle East and Western Europe. With its modern port, a railway center and an international airport, enabling a connection with 35 states and over 100 cities in the world, Varna is one of the biggest transport centers in Bulgaria.

1. Climate
Varna is situated at the western coast of the Black sea, due to which it enjoys a mild climate throughout the year. The coldest weather during the year is usually from the month of December to the month of March, when the average temperature varies between 5 and 10 0C. The summer begins in the beginning of May and lasts until the beginning of October. The temperatures in summer usually vary between 25 and 35 0C, as the most pleasant months for you to go to the beach and enjoy he sun are July and August. The sea water temperature during the summer months is usually around 23-270C.
2. Beaches and mineral water
The region of Varna, in which belong the resorts Golden Sands and St. St. Constantine and Helena is well known for its splendid spacious beaches, the warm blue sea, the healing mineral springs. It is a cradle of the oldest European civilization. In Varna you can see the original artefacts of the oldest gold treasure in the world, dated between 4400 - 4200 B.C. And that is only the beginning of your historical tour - there are many other treasures from later periods and cultures, such as the Thracian, the Greek, the Roman, the Byzantine, the Bulgarian, etc.

Varna was elected to be an European sports capital in 2019. Experts from the Association of the European capitals and sports cities assessed the application of the sea capital for an European sports city with 84.5 from 100 possible points.
